Bleach Sweat Metal

by AJ Mars on July 30, 2010

I added some Alpha vocals to this, meaning that I just used whatever popped into my head with minimal editing or attention to sense. I find this frees me up to concentrate on the music rather than getting tongue-tied over the words. Sometimes I start with solid poetic lines, other times I do this and try to make sense of it all later. Allegedly the original lines for Yesterday were, “Scrambled Eggs, ooh baby I love your legs.” I”ve no idea where this song is going, but it’s been fun so far.

30 Days of Walking-Day 15

by AJ Mars on July 27, 2010

I made it through two weeks and things are going great. Some friends came in from Colorado and we spent the weekend at Seaside Park, NJ, but I still made time for my walks. Seaside is very pedestrian friendly and on Saturday I alternated between the boardwalk, beach and street level, while barefoot. I did rip my feet up a bit, but I didn’t get any blisters. Still, I decided to wear shoes on Sunday.

I had company on Sunday’s walk, as we headed to the bay to watch the sun set. Another treat in walking at the shore is the beauty of the natural and human environment. Gorgeous people, amazing skies and idiosyncratic architecture make it a very interesting place to walk, especially compared to my cookie-cutter suburban environment back home. In Seaside Park, every house has a story. I am fortunate enough to have a personal tour guide as well, the friend whose house I was staying at for the weekend. He pointed out houses of people he knew, and people he knew of. We marveled over the modern three-story glass houses and smiled at the one story house with pylons in front made to look like it was on the boardwalk.

Another treat of that walk was watching the geese catching dinner. The adults were sitting on a sand bar on the edge of the bay poking in the sand, while the younger geese palled around, a group of them swimming from one end of the gathered geese to the other to join the other little birds.

Finally, we reached the bay and walked down the pier, making our way through waving kids, crab nets, and at the end a happy couple enjoying a romantic moment. I enjoy my walk every day, but this was special. This was the real Jersey Shore.

Read Me-”Why is this place such a mess?”

June 6, 2010

I just got into this whole WordPress thing (again). so there’s not too much content up here, and the theme and layout may be changing a lot.  I hope to have our design stabilized soon, but since this is not my fulltime job, and I don’t have much free time at the moment, it may [...]

30 Days of Boredom-Day 26

March 14, 2010

Sometimes I remember those quiet moments; one might even call them moments of love.  I might be tempted to call it by the name of beauty instead, but it seems one often elicits the other in the observer. During one of those quiet moments I simply watched her breathe:  the coiling snake of muscles descending [...]

30 Days of Boredom-Day 25

March 12, 2010

Sing to me the stories of the great people, said to be divine, and yet people still. Sing to me the stories of the wicked people, said to be demons, and yet people still. Sing to me such stories as would make the word tremble, with delight and fear, with grief and rapture. In the [...]
